Ride-Share Service Lyft Enters Medicaid & Medicare Non-Emergency Medical Transport Market
The ride-sharing service Lyft is expanding its presence in the Medicare and Medicaid non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) market. In January 2016, in a partnership with National Medtrans Network, Lyft began offering an online third party scheduling service, called Concierge, which allows health care provider organizations in New York City to arrange for transportation for Medicaid beneficiaries. Through Concierge, the health care provider organization requests transportation by entering the person’s name, and the pickup and drop-off locations.
