Small Business Health Insurance Exchanges Enrollment Lower Than Expected
As of June 1, 2014, the 18 state-run Small Business Health Options Programs (SB-SHOPS) had enrolled a lower than expected 76,000 people, from 11,742 small employers. Across the 18 states, enrollments peaked at 33,696 enrollees in Vermont (3,580 employers participated) with the next highest enrollments, of about 10,000 enrollees each in Utah, New York, and California. The lowest enrollment across the 18 states was in Mississippi, where only one employer participated and only one employee enrolled.
