South Dakota DSS Launches Behavioral Health Voucher Program To Help With Behavioral Health Costs
On June 16, 2021, South Dakota Department of Social Services (DSS) announced it had launched a Behavioral Health Voucher Program (BHVP) for uninsured and underinsured consumers, both adults and school-aged youth. More than 50 private mental health and/or addiction treatment provider organizations have enrolled to participate in the program. The voucher rates were modeled after the current South Dakota Medicaid rates. The rates support reimbursement for data collection required of the federal grant. Just over $6 million is allocated to support the BHVP.
