At the end of September 2018, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) moved 1,500 unaccompanied alien children to a temporary 3,800-bed shelter at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Tornillo, Texas Land Port of Entry (LPOE) near El Paso.
