UnitedHealthcare To Acquire Non-Profit Rocky Mountain Health Plans

On July 25, 2016, non-profit Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP) announced plans to be acquired by UnitedHealthcare. RMHP is a Colorado-based regional insurer that with its affiliated entities provides services to 299,000 enrollees. RMHP provides coverage in employer group, individual and family, Medicare, Medicaid, and Child Health Plan Plus; its third-part administrator CNIC Health Solutions offers self-funded plans for employers. The acquisition, which will change RMHP into a for-profit entity, must be approved by Colorado’s Division of Insurance and by the Attorney General’s Office.
