UnitedHealthcare Expands Virtual Visit Coverage To 20 Million Members

UnitedHealthcare is partnering with Doctor On Demand, American Well, and Optum's NowClinic to expand virtual health care services to 20 million covered lives. The partnerships create a nationwide network of virtual-care provider groups that can include general practice physicians, family practice, internists, pediatricians, and emergency physicians. To encourage members to use the virtual visits, UnitedHealth is covering them as an in-network benefit. The virtual visit network does not cover psychiatric services at this time.

UnitedHealthcare began offering the virtual network to its self-funded employer customers during 2015. These early adopters had nearly 1 million covered lives . . .
