Utah To Move Ahead With Limited Medicaid Expansion

Utah is planning to implement a limited Medicaid expansion, beginning July 1, 2017. On February 3, 2017, Governor Gary R. Herbert and legislative leadership instructed the Utah Department of Health (UDOH) to amend its Medicaid State Plan to extend coverage to an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 low-income Utah parents. Currently, the state Medicaid program covers low-income parents who earn up to 45% of the federal poverty level (FPL), which is $9,108 for a family of three. The amendment will raise the income eligibility limit to 60% FPL, or $12,252 for a family of three . . .
