Maryland Proposes Reforms For Group Homes For Medically Fragile Foster Youth
The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) is planning to improve its oversight of group homes for medically fragile foster youth. The goal is to ensure that the contractors that provide this service have a sustainable business model. DHMH plans to improve coordination among the state agencies that supervise group homes, and anticipates revising the licensing process by February 2015 for residential child care facilities serving foster youth with disabilities.
