Georgia House Bill 768 Of 2016: Georgia Achieving A Better Life Experience Act

On May 3, 2016, the Georgia House of Representatives signed this Georgia House Bill 768 into law. The law enacts the state's Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) program, called Georgia STABLE. The STABLE accounts are tax-advantaged savings accounts for individuals with lifelong disabilities that were diagnosed before age 26. The accounts can have up to $100,000 contributed by family or friends (at up to $14,000 per year) to be used to pay for the individuals' long-term services and supports. People with these accounts do not lose their eligibility for Medicaid or Supplemental Security Income . . .
