Ohio Waiver A Giant Step Toward Consumer Direction

In July of this year, Ohio IDD services will be the next health and human service system that is moving toward consumer self-direction. The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) will move 2,000 consumers in the state to a voucher-like program, wherein consumers will be granted between $25,000 and $40,000 per year that can be used to direct how and from whom they receive supports and services.
