30-Day Hospital Readmission Rates 27% Higher Among Adults With I/DD Than For The General Population
The 30-day hospital readmission rate for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) was estimated to be 27% higher than the rate for the general population of adults, according to a recent study of how nurse staffing levels affect readmission rates. For those with I/DD, the readmission rate was 17.1%, based on 2016 data. For the general population, the readmission rate was 14%, based on reference data from 2018.
