Arkansas Disabilities Services Waitlist Reduced By 16%

On July 11, 2017, Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson said the Department of Human Services (DHS) had enrolled 500 people from the developmental disabilities waiting list into waiver services, which reduced the size of the wait list by about 16%. On January 26, 2017, the state enacted a law to reduce the wait list by half over three years for Medicaid waiver developmental disability support services (DDDS). The legislature designated $8.5 million from the state’s Tobacco Settlement Fund to fund the new waiver slots.
