On August 14, 2017, the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Youth Services (DYS) recommended that the State again seek a contractor to privatize operations for seven of the state's eight residential treatment centers for youth involved in the juvenile justice system. The recommendation follows assessment and improvement of core services following Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson's January 1, 2017 direction to the DHS to assume operational control of the seven treatment centers. The solicitation for youth treatment center privatization is expected to be released in December 2017.
