Rhode Island Blues & Butler Hospital Create Initiative To Cut Behavioral Health Readmissions

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) has created a collaboration with Butler Hospital to reduce behavioral health 30-day readmissions by 5%. To reach this goal the collaboration created a transitional outpatient program (TOP) to help the BCBSRI members fully transition to long-term community-based outpatient services.

TOP, which launched in February 2021, is intended for adult BCBSRI members discharged from a behavioral health stay at Butler Hospital.
