Federal Regulators Cite The University Of Maryland Medical Center For ‘Patient Dumping’
Federal regulators have cited the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) Midtown for violating patient rights and several patient safety and hospital management regulations related to a January 2018 incident considered "patient dumping". In the incident, a woman was discharged from the UMMC Midtown emergency department to the street wearing just a hospital gown. The woman came to UMMC due for treatment for a head wound after falling off a motorbike, and resisted being discharged once treated; UMMC nurses asked hospital security to intervene. The woman also has a history of mental health issues.
