Minnesota Non-Profit Organizations Developing Alternative To Guardianship System For People With Cognitive Disabilities

The non-profit organization Volunteers of America of Minnesota and Wisconsin is developing a replicable, statewide model based on supported decision-making to provide alternatives to guardianship for people with cognitive disabilities. For this project, the organization is collaborating with a group of social service agencies as the Center for Excellence in Supported Decision Making (CESDM). The project is funded by a two-year federal grant valued at $1 million from the Administration for Community Living. This grant runs through September 30, 2018.
