Mississippi Launches Autism Insurance Mandate
Starting January 1, 2016, new and renewed health plans in Mississippi must cover diagnosis and treatment of children with autism, including coverage of applied behavior analysis (ABA). For covered children up to eight years old, applied behavioral analysis is limited to 25 hours a week. No more than 10 of those hours may be provided by a licensed behavior analyst. Health plans may choose to extend coverage above the limits for applied behavioral health analysis if it is deemed medically necessary.
