Nevada To Establish A Diversionary Court Program Statewide For At-Risk Adolescent Youths With Autism
On July 1, 2023, the state of Nevada established a diversionary court program for at-risk adolescent youth with autism. Through Senate Bill (SB) 411, juvenile courts in Nevada have the authority to establish a specialty court program for youth who are either diagnosed with, or suspected to have, autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). Children can then be assigned to this program through the juvenile court itself. The goal is to increase the skills and appropriate behavior of youth with autism.
