On January 2, 2022, a new California law will require counties to review housing plans for foster youth exiting the system and present the plans to a judge before youth can exit the system. The goal is to prevent homelessness among foster youth who age out. Previously, state law did not require counties to collect and present information about foster youth’s housing plan.
