New York provider organizations serving Medicaid beneficiaries with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) in community settings did not properly report some incidents of potential abuse and neglect. A federal review of 30 incidents of potentially unreported abuse or neglect that took place in 2017 found that 23 were properly reported and investigated, but seven were not. For the seven incidents, the provider organizations did not meet the investigation requirements. Four incidents were not investigated on time, and three were not investigated adequately.
