On August 3, 2020, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a law (Senate Bill 8835) that reverses legal immunity for senior living communities and other health care facilities related to harm or damages consumers sustained while at the facility and receiving health care services during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
