Texas Medicaid Agrees To Provide ABA In Lawsuit Settlement, But Only To Named Plaintiffs

Texas Medicaid will be paying for applied behavior analysis (ABA) for the plaintiffs in a recent lawsuit. In December 2017, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and the plaintiffs agreed to dismiss a lawsuit based on an agreement to provide ABA through the state Medicaid program to the plaintiffs, children with autism. The plaintiffs had challenged the state's lack of Medicaid coverage for ABA. Nearly 160,000 children in Texas are estimated to have autism.
