On October 8, 2020, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced it selected TriWest Healthcare Alliance (TriWest) for a $5 billion contract over an eight-year period to serve as third-party administrator to manage Region 5 of the VA Community Care Network (CCN), which includes all of Alaska. The contract began on October 1, 2020, and the initial term runs through September 30, 2021, followed by seven, one-year option periods.
