On August 30, 2018, the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (DBHDS) will decertify the Southwestern Virginia Training Center (SVTC) for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) in preparation for closing. Four residents from the SVTC were transitioned to alternative training centers, and all but two have been transitioned to new community-based settings with supportive services. The final two residents will be transitioned by August 24.
