On April 10, 2023, Battelle announced it was selected by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to serve as an independent consensus-based entity (CBE) that will review and endorse clinical quality measures. The five-year contract is valued at $53 million. Effective March 27, 2023, Battelle replaced the National Quality Forum (NQF) as the CBE and will guide the National Consensus Development and Strategic Planning for Health Care Quality Measurement initiative through February 26, 2028.
