Correcting The Mistakes That Undermine Strategy Execution: The Adelphoi Case Study

June 29, 2026

1:00 – 2:00 pm ET

Nothing is more critical for defining a provider organization’s market direction than a great strategic plan. But the ability to write a great strategic plan is meaningless if executives can’t convert those plans into a disciplined execution. Many organizations go through the strategic planning process, but fewer successfully implement the plan and achieve the desired results.

In this one-hour live presentation, Karyn Pratt, Vice President of Marketing & Strategy Development at Adelphoi, will share her experience leading strategic planning inside a mid-size human services organization and the unexpected lessons that emerged when a well-constructed plan failed to deliver results.

During this case study, Ms. Pratt will share how, even with best practices, aligned leadership, and a comprehensive strategic framework, Adelphoi struggled to execute its strategic plan—and how it eventually executed a highly successful plan. She will provide an actionable framework that executives can use to ensure that strategic plans don’t just look good, but also work.

What This Case Study Explores

  • The ways planning choices shape an organization’s ability to execute
  • The common pitfalls in strategic plan execution, such as building plans beyond organizational capacity, excluding key stakeholders from the process, selecting metrics that don’t inform decisions, and treating strategy as static in dynamic environments
  • The practical insights and tools needed to align strategy with real capacity, create meaningful organizational buy-in, simplify key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive action, and embed strategy into daily operations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify common breakdowns between strategic planning and execution within their organization and diagnose where gaps may exist
  • Apply practical tools to align strategy with organizational capacity, priorities, and decision-making
  • Design an execution approach that embeds strategy into daily operations, accountability structures, and leadership routines
