Measurement-Based Care — The Aurora Mental Health Center Case Study

Kathie Snell, MA, Chief Strategy & Operations Officer, Aurora Mental Health Center

Kathie Snell has been in the public and non-profit mental health arena for nearly 30 years as a clinician, supervisor, manager, director, and executive. Ms. Snell currently serves as the Chief Strategy and Operations Officer at Aurora Mental Health Center, where she has been dedicated to improving mental health care in the Aurora community for the past 16 years. Prior to joining the Center, Ms. Snell served as the Manager for Child and Adolescent Programs for the Colorado Office of Behavioral Health and as the Director of Child and Family Services at Community Reach Center. She has a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Colorado-Denver and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Throughout her career, Ms. Snell has worked toward service integration through community collaboration with school districts, human services, juvenile justice agencies, primary health care providers, childcare providers, and many other human and social services organizations, jointly implementing innovative programs responsive to the diverse needs of the community.

Kirsten Anderson, Psy.D., Chief Clinical Officer, Aurora Mental Health Center

Dr. Kirsten Anderson has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Dartmouth College and a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver. She began her career as a Psychologist on AuMHC’s Child and Family North Team and since then has been in a variety of leadership roles at AuMHC including managing a child and family program, director of quality improvement, co-training director of the APA pre-doctoral internship program, division director for the outpatient division, and disaster coordinator, a role Dr. Anderson continues to serve in today.

Amber Olson, Ph.D., Clinical Director, Aurora Mental Health Center

Amber Olson, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and the Clinical Director of Outpatient and School-Based Services at Aurora Mental Health Center. Dr. Olson received her Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kentucky and her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver. She has provided clinical care in a variety of settings including university counseling centers, hospital systems, integrated primary care, and community mental health settings. Dr. Olson has been at Aurora Mental Health Center for ten years and championed the planning and implementation of the measurement-based care initiative at the center.

Jason Washburn, Ph.D., ABPP, Chief Clinical Officer, Owl, Chief Psychologist, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

Jason J. Washburn, Ph.D., ABPP is a Professor and Chief of the Division of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is also the Director of Graduate Studies for the MA and Ph.D. programs in Clinical Psychology and the Associate Director of Northwestern University’s Faculty Wellness Program. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from DePaul University, was a resident at the University of Washington School of Medicine, a fellow at the University of Michigan Medical School, and a Robert Wood Johnson Research Scholar at Northwestern. He is a licensed clinical psychologist (IL) and boarded in clinical child psychology. He conducts inpatient and outpatient assessments within Northwestern Medicine’s Neuropsychological Service. His interests include non-suicidal self-injury, suicide, and other high-risk behaviors, as well as measurement-based care, innovative science-based practices, and education and training in clinical psychology.
