Building Community Partnerships – Provider Organizations & Police Departments

July 22, 2021

Many behavioral health provider organizations and police departments are working together to create programs and respond appropriately to today’s community challenges. Whether incorporating pre-arrest diversion/deflection programs or involving mental health professionals in their responses, police officers are becoming less focused on punishment and arrest, and more on providing the necessary resources individuals need to get well. Has your agency considered these types of partnerships?

In this session, OPEN MINDS Vice President, Richard Louis, and Senior Associate, Erin Pressel will have a discussion with Fred Harran, Director of Public Safety for Bensalem, PA Police Department regarding:

  • How the police officers and the public view partnerships with behavioral health provider organizations.
  • Challenges associated with these initiatives.
  • Types of programs that have been successful.
  • The process of building a relationship and a community initiative between a police department and a behavioral health provider organization.
