Independence Pointe, known until recently as Easter Seals Central Illinois, will merge with similar social services agency Macon Resources Inc. on January 1. Independence Pointe expects modest saving of about $25,000 on accounting services immediately, along with additional opportunities for management efficiencies in the future and promise of greater resilience in light of likely budget cuts. In addition to the merger, Macon Resources will be opening an additional facility for its children's program.

Macon Resources provides development, vocational and community living services for adults with developmental disabilities. It also provides business and commercial services, including manufacturing automotive license . . .
