Between 2006 and 2024, 749 unique home health agencies (HHAs) were acquired by private equity (PE) firms. In most of those years, PE firms acquired fewer than 50 HHAs. The bulk of PE acquisitions took place in three years: 2017 (156 deals), 2018 (162 deals), and 2021 (283 deals).

In 2017, the 156 deals represented 20.8% of the total 749 HHA acquisitions from 2006 to 2024.

In 2018, the 162 deals represented 21.6% of the total 749 HHA acquisitions.

In 2021, the 283 deals represented 37.8% of the total 749 HHA acquisitions.
