On July 2, 2020, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper III signed Senate Bill (SB) 808 to provide funding and to direct the Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) to implement Medicaid managed care with private managed care organizations (MCOs) starting July 1, 2021. The state planned to implement the Standard Plan managed care in February 1, 2020, but implementation was cancelled in November 2019 because the legislature failed to provide funding before adjourning for the year.
