1.2 Million Children Gain Insurance Since Reauthorization of Children’s Health Insurance Program: ASPE Issue Brief
December 28, 2011 According to the results from the National Center for Health Statistics, the number of children with health insurance has increased by 1.2 million since the reauthorization of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in February 2009. The findings indicate that the biggest two pieces of health care legislation - The ChildrenÂ’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (CHIRPA) and the Affordable Care Act, passed under the current administration have combined to expand health insurance to 3.7 million children and young adults since 2008.
