Humana Aims To Use Fitbit Device Data Generated By Medicare Advantage Members To Predict Adverse Health Events
Since December 2020 when Humana distributed more than 116,000 Fitbit wearable devices to its Medicare Advantage plan members, the insurer has been analyzing the best use for the data. It is now working toward using the device data to help track chronic conditions and predict adverse health events.
The status of Humana’s work with Fitbit data was reported by Humana executives speaking in March 2022 at the RISE 2022 National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The presentation was given by William Shrank, M.D., chief medical officer at Humana.
