California CARE Court FAQ: A New Framework For Community Assistance, Recovery & Empowerment

The report was released on August 15, 2022, by the California Health and Human Services Agency. It outlines the upcoming Community Assistance, Recovery & Empowerment (CARE) Courts being enacted in state Senate Bill 1338, passed by the legislature on August 31. The governor signed the legislation on September 14, 2022. The CARE Court program provides housing and treatment for individuals with schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless.
