Butler Health System and Excela Health have entered into a definitive agreement to combine the two into a new health system. In June 2022, the two organizations had signed a Letter of Intent and started its due diligence process. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

The organizations will now move forward with necessary state and federal regulatory approvals, which are anticipated to be complete by the end of 2022. The agreement includes Butler Memorial Hospital, Clarion Hospital, Frick Hospital, Latrobe Hospital and Westmoreland Hospital.
