North Carolina Launches Short-Term Telemedicine Program To Increase Access To COVID-19 Treatment
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) launched a time-limited telemedicine program in partnership with StarMed Healthcare to increase access to treatment for people with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The program is intended for people who are uninsured or who do not have a source of primary care, in particular those in rural and historically marginalized communities. Through the pandemic, StarMed Healthcare operated 750 test sites across 29 North Carolina counties, administering more than 900,000 tests and more than 500,000 vaccines.
