American Health Care Association quality initiative goal: Safely reduce the off-label use of antipsychotic drugs by 15% by 12/31/12

February 22, 2012
The American Health Care Association seeks to safely reduce the off-label use of antipsychotic drugs by 15% by 12/31/12. AHCA will be using two distinct measures for this goal. The first one is incidence; percentage of individuals who have an antipsychotic drug initiated for an off-label use within the first 90 days of a nursing facility stay (regardless of payer source or length). The other one is prevalence; the percentage of long-stay residents with off-label use of an antipsychotic drug.
