New York Proposed Amendments to the Mental Health Bill

On March 8, 2012, the New York state senate introduced a bill to amend the mental hygiene law in relation to establishing the institutional abuse and neglect intervention committee for vulnerable persons. The committee shall identify the most effective means for reporting institutional abuse and neglect of vulnerable persons. Included in this act are measures that provide easier means of reporting cases of abuse such as a 24 hour hotline for the vulnerable. The recommendations in this act shall be included in a report submitted to the New York legislature no later than April 1, 2013.
