The research was conducted by Martin Knapp, Ph.D., of the London School of Economics, and David Mandell, Sc.D., of the University of Pennsylvania and presented on March 31, 2012, at the international conference “Investing in our Future: The Economic Costs of Autism,” in Hong Kong. The researchers reviewed recent studies of autism costs in the United States and the United Kingdom to calculate the cost of autism associated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that 1.11% of children and 0.5% of adults in the United States have an autism spectrum . . .
