On March 29, 2012, Florida Governor Rick Scott wrote a formal letter to Florida secretary of state Kenneth Detzner informing him of the signing of House Bill 5301 into law. The bill contains several important provisions related to Medicaid and health care services. Among the various provisions, the legislation directs the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) to develop and implement a prospective payment system for Medicaid payments to hospitals based on diagnosis-related groups (DRGs).
