HUD Provides $688,000 To Nine States To Fund 80 New ‘Foster Youth To Independence’ Housing Vouchers
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) made a new allocation of $688,000 to 12 public housing authorities (PHAs) in nine states to fund 80 new Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) initiative vouchers. The PHAs will use the vouchers to prevent homelessness among youth exiting foster care. Under FYI, PHAs provide housing assistance on behalf of youth at least 18 years and not more than 24 years of age who left foster care, or will leave foster care within 90 days, and are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
