Eastern Niagara Hospital Closes June 17, 2023

Eastern Niagara Hospital (ENH) in Lockport, New York closed on June 17, 2023. The closure, announced in March 2023, leaves the community without a hospital until the fall of 2023 when Catholic Health is slated to open its new hospital within Lockport, New York. ENH was not part of the Catholic Health system.

As of December 2022, ENH had debts of more than $27 million. In mid-March, ENH had submitted a WARN notice to alert the state about pending layoffs. It has earlier notified the state Department of Health about its intentions to close.
