Connecticut To Seek Medicaid Reimbursement For Community Health Workers
Connecticut will seek Medicaid reimbursement for community health worker (CHW) services. On June 28, 2023, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont signed legislation, Senate Bill 989, which directs the Department of Social Services (DSS) to design and implement Medicaid reimbursement for CHW services. Through this, the state will be able to use Medicaid funds for CHW services to do the following for HUSKY Health (Connecticut's Medicaid program) members:
Coordinate medical, oral and behavioral health care services, and social supports
Help HUSKY Health members connect to and navigate health systems and services
Provide prenatal, birth, lactation and postpartum supports
Provide health promotion . . .
