The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is using Augintel’s natural language processing (NLP) software to search electronic case information and narrative data to gain insights on risks and strengths to inform caseworker decision making. By quickly searching through electronic case information, finding pertinent case notes, data, key words and applicable family members, and eliminating the need for caseworkers to mine the data themselves, the Illinois DCFS anticipates that Augintel’s software will reduce the time caseworkers spend on administrative tasks by an estimated 20%.
