Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) is set to remove prior authorization requirements for home care services for commercial members. Beginning January 1, 2024, hospitalized members will no longer be required to get advance approval before being discharged to continue treatment at home.;;

The change eliminates 14,000 authorizations from the health care system, according to BCBSMA, which said the move would reduce administrative burdens and expedite hospital discharges.
