At Americas Expense: The Mass Incarceration of the Elderly

As of 2011, there were 124,900 federal and state prison inmates over age 55. By 2030, if incarceration and release rates remain at current rates, federal and state prisons will hold more than 400,000 geriatric inmates. These were the findings of a June 2012 report by the American Civil Liberties Union.
