June 28, 2012
Humana Inc. sued pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline seeking repayment for the cost of medical care provided to Humana Medicare Advantage enrollees who received a settlement from GlaxoSmithKline to pay for injuries and health problems caused by Avandia, a diabetes medication. Humana claimed the Medicare Secondary Payer system entitled it to recover the cost of care provided as a result of taking Avandia.
