Motion For Stay: Coalition On Homelessness, et al v. City & County Of San Francisco

On January 17, 2023, the City of San Francisco filed this motion for stay in the case of Coalition On Homelessness, et al v. City & County Of San Francisco. The Coalition on Homelessness sued the city in 2022 to prohibit the city from enforcing its laws prohibiting sitting, lying, sleeping, and lodging on public property against “involuntarily homeless individuals” as long as the number of people experiencing homelessness exceeds the number of available shelter beds. The Coalition's compliant cites two earlier appeals court rulings relevant to these issues, and one of the earlier rulings, Johnson v. Grants Pass . . .
