Governors in five states are on the record as saying that they do not plan to expand Medicaid eligibility to uninsured low-income childless adults. Following the June 28, 2012, U.S. Supreme Court decision that affirmed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA) as constitutional, but granted states the option to not expand Medicaid coverage, governors in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas said they will not expand Medicaid coverage to include low-income childless adults.
