On July 20, 2012, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released a final rule recognizing accrediting entities for certification of qualified health plans. The final rule established data collection standards necessary for implementation of parts of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The regulations became effective on August 20, 2012.
